HTC Desire Eye, Desire 816 to get Android Lollipop update

LONDON: HTC has announced that the Android Lollipop update will be rolling out to its Desire Eye and Desire 816 smart phones.  Although the exact version of the update has not been revealed yet, it is expected to be Android 5.0.2.

This news comes on the heels of the report that claimed that the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update had begun rolling out to HTC Desire EYE, and Butterfly S in Taiwan and to the HTC One E8 in Hong Kong.

Although the size of the update has not been specified, it was earlier tipped by HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR that the update for Desire Eye would be of 1008.98MB, while that of the HTC One E8 would be 708.86MB in size.

The update might be region specific for now. It remains to be seen when it will be made available globally. To check if the update is available to you, you can got to Settings- About phone-System update- check for update. This is the manual method to check. Alternatively, one can connect to a good Wi-Fi network and see if an option for an update pops up. Upon installation, one should restart the device for the changes to apply.
