AMSTERDAM: Last year, HTC promised Android 5.0 Lollipop to the One M8 within 90 days as part of their HTC Advantage Program, and since then users have been waiting for this to come through, wondering if HTC will keep their word. Now it looks like they’re keeping their promise, at least in Europe anyway, as devices in some European countries such as Germany and France have been getting the update, though no word on the UK as of yet.
The update brings a few new features exclusively to Lollipop, like the new multitasking UI as seen above, and better, more functional lockscreen notifications. Sense 6 is still on top so a lot of the interface elements will look very much the same until HTC unleashes Sense 7, which we assume is going to be announced at the HTC event on March 1st. The size of the update will depend on your region, with some updates being around 780MB, while other regions are slightly less heavy with a size of 580MB and 650MB.
Still no word on when the US is expected to get it, and it will depend on the carriers, of course, but HTC’s website does have a neat little tool to give you an idea of where the software update is at. Still we can’t wait to see the update come through, and hopefully it’s soon.
