TAIPEI: HTC is focusing to add a new smartphone to its Desire line-up with beefed up specifications. This upcoming phone carries codename “A55” and will come some really impressive specifications.
The smartphone will reportedly sport a 5.5-inch Quad-HD (2560x1440p) display and be powered by 2GHz octa-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 processor. The phone is also expected to feature 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, BoomSound speakers and Bluetooth 4.1.
In addition, the HTC A55 will come with 20MP rear camera with LED flash and13MP front shooter (or 4MP Ultrapixel). On the software front, the phone will run on Android 5.0 with Sense 7.0.
The A55 will be unveiled sometime in February, which seems unlikely given the phone is rumoured to feature Sense 7.0. There is a very little chance that HTC will unveil Sense 7.0 before One (M8) successor, which is scheduled to be announced on March 1. So, if A55 indeed arrives in Feb, it will include Sense 6.5, or the phone will reach in March or April with Sense 7.0.
Also, there seems to be some overlap in the various HTC leaks. As per rumours. HTC is working on three high-end smartphones – HTC Hima (One M8 successor), HTC Hima_Ultra and HT Hima Ace – apart from the A55. I believe, we will only see two or three of these four rumoured smartphones or one of these smartphones will remain exclusive to a telecom operator or country.
Among other details of A55, the phone will be released in both single-SIM as well as dual-SIM versions. While the dual-SIM version will only be released in Asia, the single-SIM version will reach most of the markets in EMEA region.
