NEW DELHI: If you feel the need for 4G speed without the need for your wallet to bleed, HTC’s Desire 520 looks to your mind to plant a seed.

Former global leader in mobile innovation and design, HTC, is launching a brand new prepaid 4G smartphone just days before Apple plans to set the world on fire with its newest 6S and 6S Plus smartphones.

Presumably knowing that it’s smarter to launch new smartphones before rather than in the wake of Apple’s latest and greatest, HTC is giving Optus a three-month exclusive on its new 4G-powered pre-paid smartphone, its Desire 520 – at $199.

Promising that headline 4G capability, a quad-core 1.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 8 megapixel rear camera that can take HD 720P videos, 2 megapixel front facing camera, 4.5-inch display, Android Lollipop 5.1 paired with the HTC Sense 7 ‘skin’ and more, HTC says its newest model ‘represents a truly premium mobile experience at a highly affordable price.’

Promising ‘an intuitive design with a clean display’ you can also take advantage of Sense 7 giving you the ability to ‘customise your own fonts, icons and colour palette.’

Ben Hodgson, HTC A/NZ Country Manager said: “We continue to refine our products by taking advantage of the latest technology.

“By combining our most recent advances with the reliable and superfast Optus 4G Plus network, we are bringing blazing internet speeds to more people than ever before. Coupled with the freedom and flexibility of expandable storage and an affordable retail price of $199, the HTC Desire 520 is the perfect entry level mobile media device.”

Optus Director of Mobile Marketing, Tim Cowan said, “Optus is excited to bring the new HTC Desire 520 to our customers and let them take advantage of Optus’ 4G Plus network with its superfast speeds, smoother streaming, improved indoor coverage and better internet experience.

“With Optus’ range of data packed prepaid plans and a great network, we know customers will have what they need to get the most out the new HTC Desire 520.”

The Desire 520 also features 8GB internal storage, a MicroSD slot that can take cards up to 2TB in size and 1GB RAM, alongside a 2000 mAh battery.
