LONDON: Huawei today announced its latest mid-range phablet, the G7 Plus. Featuring a premium metal build, the phablet is a significant upgrade to the predecessor Huawei G7 released last year.
The G7 Plus is made out of ‘90% metal’ aluminum, that gives it quite premium look for a mid-range device. As for the specifications, the handset sports a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD display. Under the hood, it packs a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, that is expandable via a microSD slot.
Further, Huawei has packed the G7 Plus with a 13 MP rear camera that features optical image stabilization, sapphire lens, RGBW sensor, and wider aperture. There’s also a 5 MP front shooter for selfies and video chats.
The G7 Plus runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, with a Marshmallow update promised for February next year. Other features include a sealed 3000 mAh capacity battery, a fingerprint scanner on the back, and an improved speaker chamber.
Being a metal-clad midranger, the device weighs a bit more than an regular smartphone at 167g, and measures 152.5 x 76.5 x 7.5 mm in dimensions. It comes in several uniform color versions, including Silver, Gray, and Gold.
The Huawei G7 Plus will be available first in Asia, with a price tag of about $330.
