LONDON: Huawei P8 Lite owners rejoice as the US variant of the device is now upgradable to Android 5.1 Lollipop. The P8 Lite model ALE-L04 was launched in the US back in June with Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
Huawei has just released the update on its official website, but it also confirmed there won’t be an OTA (over-the-air) update for this specific variant of P8 Lite. That means you are left with only one way to update to Android 5.1 Lollipop, and that is by manually downloading the update from the website directly on your phone.
The upgrade will require you to have a microSD card with at least 4GB of free space. It’s also worth mentioning that the flashing process will erase all the data on your Huawei P8 Lite, so you might want to backup your important files before attempting to upgrade to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
With that said, you will need to download two files in order to upgrade your P8 Lite to 5.1 Lollipop: the transfer package (KitKat to Lollipop) and the main package (ALE-L04C567B309). Huawei has also offered a PDF guide that walks you through steps to download and flash the Android 5.1 Lollipop update file on your Huawei P8 Lite.
