NAIROBI: Huduma Kenya has generated over Sh6 billion in revenue collection from services that require payment, statistics from the secretariat indicate.

The award-winning programme, run by the Government, aims to transform public service delivery by providing citizens access to various public services and information from one-stop-shop citizen service centres called Huduma Centres, and through integrated technology platforms.

The statistics also indicate that operational Huduma Centres serve over 20,000 customers daily. The centres have to date served over three million people, which has raised the work productivity of the centers as Government Service Points.

The programme also created employment of 1,000 people, mostly young, who serve in the 21 operational Huduma Centres across the country, constituting an average of 50 per centre. Huduma Kenya is targeting to create at least one Huduma centre in each of the 47 counties.

The statistics released as the Global Entrepreneur Summit kicks off in Nairobi this week, also show that the programme has facilitated over 200 youths to operate cyber cafes in their centres, fully supported with furniture and Huduma branding.

As part of Youth Empowerment Programme under the Ministry of Devolution and Planning led by Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, the cafes assist Huduma centre customers to search and access missing documents electronically or carry out online applications.

According to the programmes’ secretariat, success of the Huduma Centres is playing a key role in supporting the Vision 2030 aim of achieving a people-centred, transparent and accountable public service that responds to public needs and provides public services that meet global standards and best practice in the early 21st Century.
