LISBON: In January and February 2015, Huelva exported agro food products worth 152.63 million Euro. This figure represents an increase of 31.04% compared to the same period in 2014, when the turnover generated amounted to 116.48 million Euro. According to the territorial delegate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment, Josefa González Bayo, this is mostly the result of the better performance of berries this season.
In the first two months of this year, this sector made EUR 85.45 million in revenue from the export of fresh strawberries and 30.79 million Euro from the shipment of fresh raspberries overseas, which is 34.5 to 52% more than in January-February 2014, when the revenue generated amounted to 63.53 and 20.26 million Euro, respectively. Sweet oranges, clementines and fresh mandarins also had a prominent role, contributing with 9.28 million Euro (4.83, 3 and 1.45 million Euro) compared to the 3.64 million Euro of the previous year.
