PESHAWAR: Huge gas reserves have been discovered in district Hangu of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
MOL Pakistan found the gas-condensate reserves at its exploratory well Mardan Khel-I. This is the seventh discovery in the TAL Block after Manzalai, Makori, Mamikhel, Maramzai, Makori East and Tolanj oil and gas-condensate discoveries since 2002.
MOL Pakistan, an oil and gas company owned by MOL Group, that is known worldwide for its mega business ventures in different investment fields, launched its operations in Pakistan in 1997 in Exploration and Production (E&P) sector and has ever since, made a number of mega oil and gas well discoveries.
Appreciating the investment-friendly policies of the Government of Pakistan, Dr Berislav Gaso, Chief Operating Officer MOL Oil and Gas upstream, expressed satisfaction over the reformed economic outlook of the country. “The MOL Pakistan sincerely believes that its E & P skill inventory gathered over the period of 17 years can positively contribute towards the self-sustainability of Pakistan’s energy needs,” he added.
MOL Group Regional Advisor Middle East, Africa & Pakistan Ali Murtaza Abbas stated that the Mardan Khel-1 exploratory well, in TAL Block, was spouted on September 17, 2014 in the continuation of the company’s aggressive drilling campaign and reached total depth (T.D) at 4912 m MD RT on February 17, 2015. During the post acid test well flowed 3,440 bpd condensate, 40.56 MMSCFD gas with 5,822 psi WHFP at 40/64 inches fix choke. “This discovery would not have been possible without the assistance of the government of Pakistan. The TAL Block operated by MOL Group and the JV partners are OGDCL, PPL, GHPL & POL,” he said.
