Hungarian logistics firms book HUF 1.085 trillion in revenue in Q2: KSH

BUDAPEST: Hungarian logistics companies had HUF 1.085 trillion in revenue in the second quarter, up a slight 0.4% from the same period a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a new report on the sector, released yesterday.

Despite transport volume growing by 8.1% to 75.8 million tons, performance in the sector was down 0.6% at 13.9 bln freight-ton kilometers. Transport volume of goods inside Hungary was 51.2 mln tonnes, international transport volume was 24.6 mln tons. Domestic transport volume was up 12% and performance improved 6.6% in the second quarter compared to the same period a year earlier.

Transport volume to foreign markets was up 1% but performance was down 2.9%. Combined domestic and foreign road transport volume in Hungary was 54.3 million tonnes, rail transport volume 11.6 million tons, transport through pipelines 7.0 million tons and water transport volume 2.5 million tons. The number of workers in the logistics sector at firms with at least five employees increased by 2.7% to 184,600 during the period. The average monthly gross wage in the sector was HUF 241,000, up 3.6%.
