BUDAPEST: Hungary’s trade surplus reached 530 million euros in January, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a second reading of data released on Friday.
The surplus was revised upward from 509 million euros in a first reading published on March 8. Import volume was up an annual 1.6 percent and worth 6.833 billon euros. Exports climbed by 6.2 percent in volume and amounted to 6.303 billion in value.
The trade surplus fell by 174 million euros from a year earlier in January. Fully 76 percent of Hungary’s imports came from other European Union countries during the month. Almost 82 percent of its exports went to EU member states.
Hungary’s terms of trade improved by 1.4 percent in January as the forint firmed 0.5 percent to the euro and weakened 6.3 percent to the dollar.
