BUDAPEST: In the period from January-April, the average gross pay in Hungary was HUF 241,600 per month, an increase of 3.9% over the same period of last year, according to a report released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH).
During the same period, average net pay, excluding family tax credits, was HUF 158,200 per month, KSH said. Average gross monthly earnings reportedly grew at a year-on-year rate fluctuating between 3.7% and 4.1% in January-April, though apparently this growth was impacted by changes in the pay rates for fostered workers. When fostered workers are discounted from the calculation, the rate of the year-on-year growth in wages declined steadily, from 3.5% in January to 2.9%, but still remained in positive numbers, KSH figures indicate.
Fostered workers are people who are unable to obtain employment on their own and are assigned work by the government for less than the minimum wage. The average gross monthly wage of fostered workers in January-April was HUF 80,200, KSH reports.
