The collector received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of oil in the city. He formed a team comprising In-charge Senior Inspector Shakeel Khan, Inspector Iqbal Mughal, Inspector Abid Ahmed Khan, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoys Muhammad Ayoub, Ghulam Sarwar, Nenomal, Sadiq Khaskheli, Driver Ajaz Ali and other staff.

The team set up checkposts at the main entry and exit points of the city and started checking of the vehicles. During the checking, the team intercepted an oil tanker with registration No: TMB-765 on Superhighway near Bypass Hyderabad. The smuggling oil was being transported from Hub Balochistan to Sindh’s district Umer Kot.

During the checking of the tanker, the team found 60,000 liter of non-duty-paid high speed diesel (HSD). The team asked the driver to provide legal documents regarding the import of oil but he failed to produce the same. The team impounded the oil along with the oil tanker.

An FIR was registered under sections of the Customs Act-1969. Following the instructions of Customs Collector Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmed Khattaq, the ASO team is taking stern action against the smugglers in the region.
