Hyderabad ASO destroys illegal petrol pumps selling smuggled diesel

KARACHI: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) destroyed three illegal petrol pumps and seized 35,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel and 30,000 liters petrol. The petrol pumps were situated on Super Highway.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed received secret information that some petrol pumps located on Super Highway were selling smuggled Iranian diesel and petrol. He immediately summoned Additional Collector Umer Shafiq to take action against these petrol pumps.

Sources said that Additional Collector Umer immediately constituted a team comprising Inspector Zafran Ali, Inspector Pervaiz Shahid, Inspector Ibrahim Shah and others. The team raided five petrol pumps and checked and verified their documents. During verification it was revealed that three petrol pumps are operating illegally even they failed to obtain NOC which is mandatory for selling petrol and diesel.

ASO team destroyed these petrol pumps on the spot and seized all the diesel and petrol. ASO team arrested all the staff along with manager of these petrol pumps. The market value of seized diesel and other goods is around Rs1 million.

In another action ASO team raided a shop which was located in Mobile Phone Market and recovered 100 valuables mobiles. The market value of seized mobiles is Rs2 million. The owners of these mobiles failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of these mobile phones. ASO team after registering a case against accused persons started investigations.
