Hyderabad ASO foils bid to smuggle 60,000 liters of smuggled diesel

HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 0,000 liters of smuggled diesel along with transporting vehicles worth a total of Rs54.67 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Information was passed through Collector Hyderabad Mumtaz Khoso and Additional Collector Dawood Peerzado to In-Charge ASO Haresh Kumar that smuggled diesel will be transported from Karachi to up-country through Super Highway.

The Anti-Smuggling-Organization (ASO) team reached at by-pass Hyderabad and started monitoring. The suspected vehicle was spotted and signaled to stop. But, the driver of vehicle tried to speed away. The ASO team chased the vehicle and stopped it, however the driver managed to escape.

It was a cement bowser and detailed examination of the vehicle led to recovery of diesel from the secret cavities of the vehicle. Goods and vehicle have been seized and investigations are under way.
