Hyderabad ASO foils bid to smuggle Iranian diesel & goods worth Rs9.7m

HYDERABAD: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded a non-duty paid 12 wheeler oil tanker bearing registration no: LOK-6670 model 1992 and recovered 44,000 liters of Iranian diesel( HSD) worth Rs 9.7 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali, received credible information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately directed all anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Deputy Syed Kareem Adil.

The anti-smuggling team comprises Superintendent Saleem Channa, Deputy Superintendent Sikandar Pahnwar, Inspector Anwar Ahmad Siddiqui, Inspector Nazim Ali, Waqar Ahmad Baig and Sepoy Abdul Ghaffar, Sadique Khas Kheli, Usman Jonejo and driver Nisar Hemdani.

The ASO team intercepted the oil tanker near Doultpur Mor and recovered smuggled Iranian oil.

The above said team also raided a godown near Hyderabad Market Police Station and recovered huge quantity of smuggled foreign origin goods, including 845 cartons of cigarette, 260 cartons of gutka, 288 shisha and other smuggled items.
