Hyderabad ASO impounds vehicle in Tando Allayer valued Rs20m

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad has impounded a foreign origin non-duty paid Toyota Hilux surf without registration during a recent action in Tando Allayer. The value of the vehicle is Rs20million involving duty and taxes of Rs2.8million.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Rehmatullah Vistro received a tip-off regarding some smuggling attempts. He formed an ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Abu Muhammad Warsi. The team also included Inspectors Asaduddin Mirza, Iqbal Mughal, Mushtaque Ali Lakho and sepoys Mohammad Ayuoob, Hawaldar Muhammad Ahmed, Driver Sadique Khaskheli, Nisar Ahmedani and other staff.

The team intercepted the vehicle. The officials asked the driver to produce documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle but he could not show any of them. So the officials impounded the vehicle following the customs bylaws. After making a seizure report, the team deposited the impounded Toyota into Hyderabad State Warehouse. Officials said vigilance has been enhanced against the smuggling of vehicles on roads.
