Hyderabad ASO recovers huge quantity of smuggled goods during different operations

HYDERABAD: Collectorate  of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASO) took into possession non-duty-paid Iranian High Speed Diesel (HSD), betel nuts, mobile sets, DTH receivers, dish antenna, vehicles and other contraband items worth millions of rupees in different raids during the last week of February 2019.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali directed his staff to use all available resources to curb smuggling attempts in the region.

The ASO team, under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid conducted different operations in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad and Larkana check post and recovered huge quantity of smuggling items.

The seized goods include Iranian diesel, betel nuts, Indian Gutka,  DTH receivers, dish antenna, vehicles including Toyota Hilux bearing registration no: KT 9717, a car bearing registration no: AXM-722  and other contraband items worth million of rupees.

Deputy Collector supervised these anti-smuggling squads which also included in-charge ASO Zulfiqar Ali Jamali, Sikander Akbar Phanwar, Inspectors Aziz Ahmed Katpar, Makhan Khan, Abdul Majeed Barich,  Haresh Kumar, Maqbool Ahmed Rind.

The ASO team registered separate cases of smuggling against the accused persons and forwarded the cases to the customs adjudications.

The sources told that Collector Customs Khalid Hussain Jamali ordered the officials of the ASO to adopt a zero tolerance against the smugglers who are out to destroy the legal business of the city.
