KARACHI: The Hyderabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 38,000 litre Iranian oil and smuggled cell phones during two successful raids.
As per the details, Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed received information that a huge quantity of Iranian oil was smuggled into the city which would be sold at illegal petrol pumps. Consequently, he directed Additional Deputy Collector Umar Shafeeq to curb smuggling. The Collector formed a team under the supervision of a deputy collector, including inspectors Ch Shabeer, Rana Farooq and others. The team established check-posts at the entrance point of the city. During the checking of the vehicles the ASO team intercepted a truck and found 38,000 litre Iranian fuels.
The ASO officials seized the oil while two persons were arrested during the time of action. The team also impounded the tanker which was used in oil smuggling. The ASO officials said that the value of the seized oil is more than Rs 3.6 million.
In another action, the ASO team has foiled the smuggling of mobile phones. Additional Collector Umar Shafeeq received information a huge quantity of mobile phones are non-duty paid cell phones were smuggled through a Suzuki High roof. Consequently, he formed check-posts and started the checking of the vehicles along with his team. During the chinking of the vehicles they stooped a Suzuki high roof and recovered more than 300 non-duty paid cell phones. The Customs officials seized the cell phones while one person was arrested. The estimated value of seized cell phones is more than Ra 3 million.
