Hyderabad ASO seizes contraband items worth Rs 1.2m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized electronic items, shampoo, auto parts, toys and gutka worth Rs 1.2 million during an operation.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO team, following the instruction of Model Customs Collectorate Collector Dr Ahmed Mujtaba Memon under the supervision of Additional Collector Umar Shafique, conducted an operation to curb  smuggling in the region.

The ASO team intercepted two containers of M/s Aziz Goods Transport Company and M/s Bilal Goods Transport Company. 70 cartons of foreign origin toys, ball bearing, decoration light, shampoo, balloon, cable wire and electronic Iron were recovered from a container of Aziz transport, while 35 cartons of electronic items, hair spary, auto parts, gutka and other items were recovered from the container of Bilal Transport.

The official asked the both drivers to produce any documents regarding the legal possession of the smuggled foreign origin items but they could not show any documents on which customs confiscated the goods under prevailing customs law.

After making the seizure report the ASO team deposited the confiscated smuggled goods items in State Werehouse Hyderabad

The ASO team comprising Senior Inspector Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh, Seizing Officer Mushtaq Ali Lako, Sepoys Muhammad Sadiq Khaskheli, Muhammmad Usman Jonejo and others participated in the action.
