Hyderabad ASO seizes contraband items worth Rs 12.2m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated smuggled diesel, petrol, vehicles and other items worth Rs 12.25 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 6.42 million during February 2016.

On the direction of Hyderabad Customs Additional Collector Omar Shafique, the ASO team conducted successful operation in Hyderabad and impounded seven vehicles including Land Cruiser, Toyota Hilux and Suzuki Pickup. It confiscated 16,000 liters of Iranian diesel, 1200 liters of petrol, cigarette and 278 bags of gutka during the said period

The ASO team comprising Deputy Superintendent Sikander Akbar Pahnwar, Deputy Superintendent Anwar Ahmed Siddiqui, Inspector Abdul Ghaffar Shaikh, Inspector Khair Muhammad Pathan, Inspector Momim Shah, Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig, Inspector Syed Nazim Ali, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoys Aslam, Sadiq, Usman Junejo, Isa and others participated in the raids.

The officials seized all items under the customs laws as the alleged smugglers failed to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items.
