Hyderabad ASO seizes huge quantity of NDP cigarettes during action

HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has foiled a bid to smuggle different cigarettes and seized 398 sticks of Pine light Bensons & Hedges foreign origin ORIS slim brands different Pan Masala and 14 jute bags 980 kilograms foreign origin betel nuts worth Rs2139671 include duty and taxes during an action. These goods were being transported from Karachi to Mirpurkhas

Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid while talking to Customs Today said that department was striving hard to increase the surveillance of suspects in the region as more check posts has been established to foiled the smuggling bids.

He told that following the instructions of Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq the ASO team under his conducted the operations in the region to curb smuggling

The team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration JV 3258 nearby pass Hyderabad , and recovered  8 cartons 398 sticks of different cigarettes including foreign origin  Pine light, Benson & Hedges foreign origin ORIS slim  brand  different  Pan Masala including  90000 sachets of Hit Saffron Blended tobacco Masala  8000 sachets of MR92 Zaffrani Masala

The ASO team seized the goods items after suspect remained fail to produce documents regarding legal import. A case has been registered against the accused under the customs law. After making seizure report, the ASO team deposited the confiscated goods items to Hyderabad State Warehouse

The team comprising in charge ASO customs preventive Hyderabad Sikander Akbar Phanwar, Inspector Rana shahbaz sepoyes  Abid Ali Abdul Razzaque Muhamad Ahmed hawaldar  and driver Aijaz Ali  other participated in the operation.
