HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate’s Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) confiscated smuggled items worth Rs11.653.700million from Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana during January 2017.
Following strict instruction by Hyderabad Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed khan, the ASO team conducted various anti-smuggling activities to save the national exchequer. The team confiscated different items including foreign origin cloths, telephone sets, sewing machines, mobil oil, auto parts, foreign origin cigarettes, Indian Gutka, electronic goods, LED TVs, laptops computers, blankets and other items in different actions.
According to details, customs seized 7.252 yards of smuggled cloths worth Rs1.898.million, auto parts valued Rs297500, electronic goods of LED TV sets, computer monitors and laptops valued Rs 2879800 and 95000 sachets of Indian Gutka worth Rs950000.
Besides, the ASO confiscated 6700 cartons of cigarettes valued Rs2.680million and miscellaneous items including blankets, sewing machines, 210 liter Mobil Oil, telephone sets, plastic bobbins, laptops and batteries worth Rs 2.948million and other items.
Under the supervision of Hyderabad Customs Headquarters, Additional Collector Rehmatullah Vistro and Additional Collector Omar Shafique, Deputy Collector Shahid Ali Abbasi, Assistant Collector Preventive Mumtaz Ali, ASO teams comprising Superintendent Shabbir Phalphuto, Superintendent Sikander Akber Panhwar, Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig, Inspector Asadudin Mirza, Inspector Iqbal Mugal, Inspector Nazim Ali, Inspector Shakeel Khan, Inspector Ahmed Ali Shah, Inspector Karamullah Hujan, Inspector Syed Zagham Ali Shah, Inspector Shafi Muhammad Jamali, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoyes Essa Neromal, Abid Raza, Sadiq Ali Ahmed, Drivers Nisar Ahmdani and Khan took part in the operations.
Talking to Customs Today, customs officers said the Hyderabad Customs showed excellent performance regarding the anti-smugglings during said period.
