ASO seizes miscellaneous smuggled goods in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized  foreign origin miscellaneous  goods worth Rs 800,000.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Dr. Ahmad Mujtaba Memon received information regarding some smuggling attempts. After receiving the tip off, he constituted an ASO team under the  supervision Additional Collector Umar Shafique. Superintendent Sikander Akbbar Phanwar, Deputy Superintendent Anwar Ahmed Siddiqui, Inspector M Shakeel Khan, Inspector Imdad Abro and sepoyes also took part in the operation.

The ASO team intercepted a truck near National Highway Bypass at  and recovered foreign origin soap, cold crème, shampoo, CDR, hand wash, artificial jewellery, and other items worth Rs 800,000.

The ASO team asked the driver to produce any documents showing the legal possession and import of the  goods items but he could not show any documents on which customs impounded the goods items following the prevailing customs laws.

After making seizure report the ASO team deposited the confiscated goods items in State Warehouse Hyderabad.
