HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs Preventive ASO Hyderabad and Sukkur division seized smuggled goods including HSD, betel nuts, cloth, Indian gutka, rice, fire crackers, mobil oil and other items worth Rs 60 million during first week of March 2019.
Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali while talking with Customs Today said that he directed his staff to curb the smuggling attempts in the region and adopt comprehensive strategy in this regard.
The ASO team, under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid conducted different operations in Hyderabad and Sukkur division Jacobabad, Larkana, Dera Mor Check Post areas and recovered huge quantity of smuggling goods items.
ASO confiscated different items, including foreign origin 56,000 liters of Iranian High Speed Diesel (HSD) worth Rs3,080,000, four vehicles including a Hino oil tanker bearing registration no: TLK 320 model 2007, Hino truck 10 wheeler bearing registration no-TKB 2019 model 1985, Hino truck bearing registration no- TKP no 971 model 2007 and Hino truck bearing registration no FR-2018.
The ASO team asked the driver to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items but he could not prove anything lawful. So the team seized the goods under the customs bylaws. A case was registered against the accused and sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action. The ASO deposited the confiscated goods in Hyderabad Sukkur Division State Warehouse.
All the above-mentioned anti-smuggling operations were carried out under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid and Deputy Collector Syed Kareem Adil, Deputy Collector Kalimullah Wagan from Sukkur division while the ASO teams comprised In-charge Zulfiqar Ali Jamali, In-charge Sukkur Division Sikander Akbar Phanwar, Inspectors Aziz Ahmed Katpar, Makhan Khan, Haresh Kumar, Abdul Majeed Barich, Muhammad Iqbal Mughal.
