Hyderabad ASO seizes smuggled Iranian diesel worth Rs 7.4m

HYDERABAD: ASO Hyderabad seized smuggled  40,000 liters of Iranian diesel worth Rs 7.4 million which also involves duty and taxes of Rs 18,08,000 during   a crackdown.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector  Customs Dr Ahmed Mujtaba Memon  received credible  information regarding  smuggling  of Iranian diesel .

After  receiving  the  tip off he  immediately  formed  a team  under the  supervision  of   Additional   Collector  Omer  Shafique which also includes Deputy Superintendent Sikander Akbar Pahnwar, Inspectors Anwar Ahmed Siddiqui  and Waqar Ahmed Baig, Syed  Nazim Ali and other  staff  a took  part  in  the operation.

The ASO team intercepted  a oil  tanker bearing   registration No 8594- near  Super Highway at Hyderabad  and recovered  40,000 liters  of  Iranian  diesel  along  with  oil  tanker .

The   team  asked   the driver of  the vehicle  to  produce  legal  document regarding   the legal  possession of  Iranian  diesel   but  he  failed   to provide  any  document s  on which ASO seized  the ASO team confiscated the diesel besides impounding the oil tanker under the prevailing customs law.
