Hyderabad Customs captures cigarettes, gutka valued at Rs 5.4m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) during an action has seized smuggled cigarettes and gutka worth Rs 5.41 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 2.48 million.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO team conducted a in the city and confiscated 330 packs of foreign origin cigarettes worth Rs 132,000 involving duty/taxes to the tune of Rs 45,804 and 278 bags of Indian origin gutka worth Rs 5.28 million involving duty/taxes of Rs 2.44 million.

Under the supervision of Additional Collector Omar Shafique, the ASO team comprising Deputy Superintendent Anwar Ahmed Siddiqui, Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig, Inspector Syed Nazim Ali, Sepoy Muhammad Aslam and others participated in the raid.

After making the seizure report, the ASO team deposited the confiscated smuggled items cigarette and gutka to Hyderabad State Warehouse.
