Hyderabad Customs confiscates 100 laptops, 200 hard disks

KARACHI: The Hyderabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized laptops and hard disks and arrested three suspects during an action.

Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed received information that a huge consignment of smuggled laptops and hard disks was being smuggled out of city.

The informer told that all items were brought to Quetta and smugglers have a plan to smuggle the same to Karachi. Consequently, the collector directed the Additional Deputy Collector Umar Shafiq to curb the smuggling. Agha Shahid Majeed formed a team under the supervision of Additional Collector, which included Inspector Mumtaz, Inspector Rana Mushtaq, Inspector Guk Zaman Khan and others.

The ASO team formed check posts at the exit point of the city and started the checking of the vehicles. During the checking of vehicles the team halted a truck. While the searching of the team found the team found more than 100 imported laptops, 200 portable hard disks. The Customs officials seized all items while three persons were arrested during action. The ASO team said that the value of seized items is more than Rs 2.8 million.
