Hyderabad customs destroys three petrol pumps, seizes 76,000 litre oil

KARACHI: Hyderabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has destroyed three illegal petrol pumps and seized 32,000 litre oil during two successful actions.

Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed received information that smugglers were planning to supply a huge quantity of smuggled Iranian diesel at different illegal petrol pumps. Consequently, he informed Additional Deputy Collector Umar Shafiq and instructed him to take legal action against smuggler. Umar Shafiq formed a team under his own supervision including Inspector Shoaib Khan, Inspector Muddser Iqbal, Inspector Gayoor Aslem and others.

The team establishes check-points at main entry and exit point of the city and started the checking of the vehicles. During the checking of the vehicles the ASO team intercepted a suspicious truck. During the searching of the truck the customs officials found 32,000 litre non-duty paid Iranian diesel. The ASO team seized the oil while two persons were arrested during action. Customs officials said that the value of seized oil is more than Rs 3 million.

In another action, Hyderabad Customs Collectorate has destroyed three petrol pumps which located in front of Hyderabad Toll Plaza. Additional Collector Umar Shafiq received information three petrol pumps near Hyderabad Toll Plaza were sold illegal petrol pumps. According to information he raided along with his team at illegal petrol pumps and destroyed. During the raids the team seized 26,000 litre Iranian petrol, 18,000 litre diesel, while eight persons were arrested during action. Customs officials said that the value of sized oil is more than Rs 2.6 millon.
