Hyderabad Customs earns Rs1.57b against allocated target of Rs1.45b during third quarter

HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Hyderabad has collected duties and taxes of Rs1.57billion against the assigned target of Rs1.45billion for the 3rd quarter of current FY2017-18.

The Model Customs Collectorate Hyderabad has surpassed the overall revenue target assigned by the federal Board Revenue for 3rd quarter of the current FY2017-18.

The collectorate has generated duties and taxes amounting to Rs1.57billion against the assigned target of Rs1.45billion which is 8% higher than the target under the head of Customs Duty of Rs503million against the target of Rs419million which is 20% higher than the assigned target.

On the special initiative taken by Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, Collector Model Customs Collectorate MCC Hyderabad, the Anti-Smuggling Organization Hyderabad and Sukkur geared up the anti-smuggling efforts and resultantly made 62 seizures of smuggled goods valued at Rs1.35million during 3rd quarter of current Financial Year compared to 45 seizures valued at Rs40million made during corresponding period of the last financial year which shows 237% increase in number of seizure cases and 37% increase in terms of talking with Customs Today.

Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid said that special efforts were made to contain Iranian diesel’s six oil tankers along with 157.800 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel seized during current quarter of FY2017-18. About 69 kilograms of hashish was also seized which values at Rs3.5million. An amount of Rs25million was realized through auction of goods/vehicles at Hyderabad & Sukkur Collectorate.

Additional Collector added that Hyderabad Customs showed some brilliant performance with regard to the anti-smugglings during above said duration.
