Hyderabad Customs I&I foils various smuggling attempts during November

HYDERABAD: Directorate Customs Intelligence & Investigation impounded smuggled items contraband items, cigarette, gutka, cloths, auto parts scrape, tyres, and other miscellaneous goods worth millions of rupees during different  successful operations during month of November 2019.

Sources told Customs Today that Director I&I Dr. Sadiqullah Khan directed his staff to use all available resources to curb smuggling attempts in the region.

The I&I team, following instructions of the Director conducted various raids in Hyderabad, Sukkur Range office areas to confiscate smuggled items under the supervision of headquarters Additional Director Syed Naeem Akhter.

Customs I&I confiscated smuggled goods including non-duty paid Toyota Corolla X, bearing registration No GS-930 three Hino trucks bearing registration no: PKY-986 , TKB-757 , TKW-526, F/O cigarette auto parts scrape, cloths, worth millions of rupees

The drivers of the vehicle was asked to show the legal documents of the goods but he failed to do so. The officials confiscated the items considering them smuggled under the customs bylaws. All the above  goods have been shifted to state warehouse Hyderabad and Sukkur after making a seizure report.

The Hyderabad Directorate customs I&I team, comprising deputy director, superintendent, intelligence officer, inspectors, sepoyes drivers and other staff took part in the operations.

Sources told that Director Sadiqullah Khan ordered the officials of the ASO to adopt a zero tolerance against the smugglers who are out to destroy the legal business of the city.
