Hyderabad customs impounds foreign origin goods valued Rs02.1m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized foreign origin 320 cartons, 09600 sets of door locks including 41 cartons bundles of drawer ratings valued Rs02.1million involving duty/taxes of Rs397456 during a raid on Hala Naka, Hyderabad. Transport equipments were being brought through smuggling.

The Field Intelligence Unit of Customs Intelligence conducted a raid following a tip-off received through customs intelligence of Karachi Director Tahir Qureshi to curb the smuggling.

The FIU Hyderabad team, comprising Deputy Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi, Intelligence Officers Irfan Ghani, Sepoys Muhammad Imran, Noshad Khan, Sikander Malaha, Azam Ali Chandio, Moin Khan, Ghayas Ahmed, Driver Rao Abdul Sattar, Janib Crob, Hanif Somroo and other staff, intercepted a public transport vehicle near Hala Naka Hyderabad and recovered the abovementioned items.

The officials asked the driver to show documents regarding the customs clearance but he could not do the same. The FIU seized the said goods. A case was registered according to the customs bylaws

after making a seizure report. The smuggled items will be deposited into the state warehouse in Hyderabad.
