Hyderabad Customs seizes ceremic tiles worth Rs 1 million

HYDERABAD: The  Hyderabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized 1310 boxes of smuggled Iranian ceramic tiles. The market value of the seized tiles is Rs 1 million. The tiles were impounded during a raid in Hyderabad

Sources told Customs Today that on the strict instructions of Directorate General of Customs Investigation and Intelligence director Imtiaz  Ahmed  Khan,  director Intelligence and Investigation  Karachi  Asif Marghoob  Siddiqui took effective measure to curb smuggling in the region.

According to details customs intelligence and  investigation received  credible information through deputy director Mohammad Tayeeb about smuggling of tiles. After receiving the tip of the customs raiding party comprising deputy superintendent Sikander Hayat Khanzada seizing officer, inspector Irfan Ghani, inspector Noor Muhammad Shah and other staff took part in the raid on a  gowdon near City Hotel Hala Naka  from which they recovered foreign origin 1310 boxes of  Iranian ceramic tiles. The seized tiles were being smuggled from Quetta to Hyderabad

The customs officials asked the owner to produce the documents showing legal import of  the  tiles but the failed to produce any documents therefore customs officials confiscated the items the item under prevailing customs law.
