Hyderabad Customs seizes smuggled CNG cylinders

HYDERABAD: The Customs Collectorate’s Hyderabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 30 pieces of smuggled Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cylinders worth Rs 600,000 involving duty taxes amounting to Rs 287,400.

Sources told Customs Today that following the instructions of Hyderabad Collector Agha Shahid Majeed , Additional Collector Umar Shafiq and his team comprising Deputy  Superintendent Sikandar Akbar Phanwar, , Inspector M. Shakeel Khan, Inspector Mushtaque Ali Lakho and  Sepoyes Abid Raza driver Rasheed and others intercepted a vehicle near Hyderabad bye-pass.

During the search, the team recovered 30 piece of  CNG  cylinders and asked the driver to produce documents showing the legal import and transportation  of these cylinders but he remained failed to show any relevant documents. Therefore, the ASO team seized the cylinders under prevailing customs laws and started further investigations. Sources said that driver of the vehicle told investigators that he was going to deliver to owner of these CNG cylinders in Karachi.
