Hyderabad Customs seizes contraband items worth of Rs 90m

KARACHI: The Hyderabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized contraband items worth of Rs 90 million during the the first 20 days of July.

Sources told Customs Today that during the different raids, the ASO teams destroyed 22 illegal petrol pumps while a huge consignment of Iranian petrol and diesel was seized. The ASO teams also arrested 22 persons who were involved in smuggling.

As per the details, in the seized electronics items included German smuggled white papers, 100 LEDs, 100 monitors, more than 200 receivers, room fridge and  irons under the value of Rs 10 million. The ASO team also seized the smuggled fuel more than 100,000 liters during the first twenty days of July.

In a fresh action the Anti Smuggling Squad has foiled the smuggling of huge quantity of Smartphone. Customs authorities received information about smuggling and raided in the area of Meerpur Khas, Town Brohi. During the search of the warehouse the ASO team recovered more than 150 Smartphone. The seized the Smartphone and arrested the owner of warehouse for interrogation.
