Hyderabad Customs seizes huge quantity of smuggled goods during October

HYDERABAD: Collectorate Of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASO) took into possession non-duty-paid Iranian High Speed Diesel (HSD), betel nuts, mobile sets, NDP, vehicles, and other contraband items worth millions of rupees in different raids during the current month of October 2019.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali directed his staff to use all available resources to curb smuggling attempts in the region.

The ASO team, under the supervision of deputy collectors of Hyderabad and Sukkur division conducted different operations in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad and Larkana check post and recovered huge quantity of smuggling goods  items.

The seized goods include Iranian diesel HSD 2194 cartons of mobile sets accessories, betel nuts, non-duty paid vehicles including Toyota Land Cruiser Prado bearing registration no: BF 7410 model 2005  NDP vehicle Toyota Prado bearing registration no: BF-3474 model 1998 both vehicle worth Rs7 million  and other vehicles U/S157  contraband and  goods  items worth millions of rupees.

The ASO team asked the drivers to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items but they could not prove anything lawful. So the team seized the goods under the customs bylaws. Cases were registered against the accused and sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action

The ASO deposited the confiscated goods in Hyderabad Sukkur Division State Warehouse.

All the above-mentioned anti-smuggling operations were carried out under the supervision of deputy collector and anti-smuggling squads which also included in-charge ASO Momin Hussain Shah, Inspector Muhammad Ali Jamali  Inspector Maqbool Ahmed Rind. Sepoyes Shabeer Ahmed Bhutto, Ali Dino  Abid Ali, Muhammad Ayub, Akbar Solangi driver and other staff.

The ASO team registered separate cases of smuggling against the accused persons and forwarded the cases to the customs adjudications.

The sources told that Collector Customs Khalid Hussain Jamali ordered the officials of the ASO to adopt a zero tolerance against the smugglers who are out to destroy the legal business of the city.
