Hyderabad customs seizes items worth Rs 353 million in 9 months

HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Hyderabad confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 353 million during three quarters (July-March) for current fiscal year 2014-15.

Talking to Customs Today MCC Hyderabad Collector Ahmed Mujtaba Memon said that collectorate has made seizure almost 60 percent more than the same corresponding period of last fiscal year 2013-14. He also appraised the performance of the staff in the region that made it possible to deposit million of rupees national exchequer. He also vowed to curb the smuggling of diesel, cloths, plastic granules etc.

MCC Hyderabad seized Iranian diesel, cell phones, gutka, tyres&tubes, fabric, plastic granules during first nine months of current fiscal year.

Collectorate also foiled diesel smuggling bid and confiscated 700 canes filled with smuggled diesel, while another attempt of smuggling was failed by recovering 18,000 liters diesel from a LPG tank.

As a whole, MCC Hyderabad has seized 709,040 liters diesel during three quarter of the year.
