Lawmakers not filing Income Tax returns; not obeying law

LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sent the record of members of National Assembly and Provincial Assembly who did not file their Income Tax returns, to all regional offices with directives to urge them for filing Income Tax returns.

Sources informed that numbers of MNAs and MPAs have not submitted their returns to the department until today.

On the other hand, Regional Tax offices (RTOs) are sending reminder notices to the non-filer law makers of the country but they are reluctant to not file their returns, sources added.

While FBR has directed all field formations to collect the IT returns from them as soon as possible.

Sources also informed that number of MPAs from ruling party and opposition parties in Punjab have not file their returns.

They further added that department may suspend the memberships of the non-compilers after ending of the Pre-Budget sessions.
