Hyderabad Customs seizes non-duty paid goods worth Rs122.7m during Feb

HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad and Sukkur division seized non-duty paid items worth Rs122.7 million in different actions during  month of  February 2020

Sources told Customs Today that after instructions of Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali, the ASO team conducted various anti-smuggling activities in order to save the national exchequer.

Sources told that ASO Hyderabad and Sukkur division confiscated and foreign origin  47 cartons   of crockery, 4752 tins  of Rani juice 4 air conditioner different  brands ( old and use ) and other items the worth of seized, 1000 liters of white spirit Iranian origin.The worth of seized items is million of rupees.

All the above-mentioned anti-smuggling operations were carried out under the supervision of deputy collector  Hyderabad and Sukkur division while the ASO teams comprised in-charge inspectors, sepoyes , drivers and other staff.

Prior to the recovery of goods vehicles , the officials asked the driver for producing documents regarding the legal import of the items but he could not prove anything lawful. So the team took the items into possession under the customs bylaws.

The cases was registered against the accused and sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action. The ASO deposited the confiscated goods and vehicles in Hyderabad Sukkur-Larkana division State Warehouse.

Officials said that Hyderabad Customs Collector Khalid Hussain Jamili had directed that effective steps be taken for preventing the smuggling in the region.

They added that the anti-smuggling officials had enhanced the vigilance on roads to keep an eye on the movement of the contraband items and the NDP vehicles.

Talking to Customs Today, customs officers said that Hyderabad Customs showed excellent performance with regard to the anti-smuggling during the said period, adding that the Collectorate was improving its performance over the time by adopting effective strategies against the smugglers.
