The Customs Intelligence Director received secret information regarding a non-duty-paid vehicle. He formed a team under the supervision of Syed Irshad Ali Shah, Principal Appraiser, and other staff including Intelligence Officer Syed Shafiq Ali, Sepoys and a driver, to execute a raid on the vehicle.

The team intercepted the said car near Qasimabad Hyderabad and asked the owner of the vehicle to produce documents regarding the legal import and possession of vehicle, but he failed to do so. So the officials took into possession the vehicle and registered a case against him.

In the month of April 2018, the same team forwarded a tip-off to Customs Intelligence Director General Shaukat Ali that a huge quantity of contraband diesel would be smuggled into the country via Karachi Matli. A team of officers of the directorate was constituted to abort the attempt of smuggling.

The team intercepted the oil tanker No: TUC-609 near Matli and recovered 24,000 liters of Iranian diesel. The HSD was being transported from Hub Karachi to interior Sindh, Matli.

The persons in the vehicle could not produce any document regarding the legal import of loaded diesel on the spot. Therefore the vehicle along with the filled HSD was taken into possession by the staff and escorted to the office of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation Hyderabad.

The I&I team seized the non-duty-paid HSD diesel and registered a case of smuggling against the accused. The I&I Hyderabad team deposited the impounded diesel with oil tanker into the customs warehouse and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication.

Some other vehicles have also been impounded which include Toyota X-Corolla car, Toyota Hilux Surf, Toyota and a land cruiser during the month of April 2018.
