Hyderabad FIU impounds Hino truck valued Rs03m

HYDERABAD: The Customs’ Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) has impounded a non-duty paid Hino truck worth Rs03million involving duty and taxes of Rs02.1 during an action at bypass Hyderabad.

The I&I Hyderabad, on the strict instructions of Directorate General Customs Intelligence Karachi Region, told Customs Director Tahir Qureshi to take effective measure to curb the smuggling in the region.

Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Haroon Waqar Malik received a tip-off regarding a non-duty paid vehicle. He formed a team, comprising Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi, Intelligence Officer Irfan Ghani, Ahmed Hussain Joneju, Sepoys Muhammad Imran Ali, Ghayas Ahmed Shah, Moin Khan, Noshad Khan, Hanif Soomro and Rao Abdul Sattar, to conduct a raid for impounding used Hino truck.

The FIU team intercepted the said truck with registration No: TKA-325 near Hyderabad Bypass and asked owner of the truck to produce documents regarding the legal import and possession of truck but he failed to provide the same. Therefore the officials, taking legal action, impounded the vehicle under customs bylaws and registered a case against the suspect. Now the case will be sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action against the accused.
