Hyderabad FIU impounds NDP vehicles & contraband items valued Rs13m

HYDERABAD: Customs Investigation and Intelligence’s Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Hyderabad has impounded non-duty-paid vehicles and contraband goods worth Rs13million during different operations in 24 days of May 2017.

The Customs FIU, following directives of Customs Intelligence Director General (FBR) Shaukat Ali and Director Intelligence and Investigation Karachi (ASO) Tahir Qureshi, aborted many attempts to smuggle items into Pakistan.

Sources told Customs Today that on the special guidelines of Director General FBR Shaukat Ali, a crackdown was launched to curb smugglings in the region. The raiding party, under the supervision of Deputy Director Haroon Waqar Malik comprising Superintendent, Inspectors, Sepoy Driver and others, took active part in different actions against smugglers during 24 days of May 2017.

The customs FIU team seized the goods and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings. After registering cases, the team deposited the confiscated items into Hyderabad state warehouse.

Customs Intelligence Director Karachi appreciated the performance of Customs Intelligence FIU team, which foiled various smuggling bids in the region.
