Hyderabad I&I seizes smuggled goods worth Rs29

HYDERABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation team confiscated foreign origin 20810 kilograms of glassware, 21120 kilograms of smuggled cloth along with two containers near Noshero Feroz and Moro Toll Plaza. The market value of the seized goods is Rs29 million.

Sources told Customs Today, received a tip-off about the smuggling of foreign origin non-duty-paid goods. He advised the superintendent to use all available resources to foil the attempt.

During the checking, I&I team intercepted 40 feet container bearing registration no: LSB -1569 recovered 20810 kilograms of glassware.

Sources said that during second operation I&I team intercepted 40 feet container bearing registration no: SMA -131 near Moro Toll Plaza and recovered goods worth Rs4.9 million during the above said period.

The customs team asked the driver of the vehicle to show the legal documents regarding the possession and transportation of above mentioned items, but he failed to provide the required documents. The customs team impounded the goods and two containers the customs team registered a case of smuggling against the accused and forwarded it to the Customs I&I for further proceeding.
