LONDON: Hyundai’s new Genesis saloon will go on sale at the beginning of April with prices starting from £47,995. Available only from selected retailers, Hyundai is promising to limit sales in order to maintain exclusivity.

The Korean brand’s first upmarket executive saloon will be offered in a single trim level which provides leather upholstery, alloy wheels, two-zone climate control, satellite navigation, a reversing camera, a head-up display and a hands-free automatic boot lid.

Under the bonnet is a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine which drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. As yet there is no word on performance or economy figures.

Hyundai is, however, keen to highlight the car’s safety features, which include intelligent cruise control, automatic emergency braking and even a cabin CO2 sensor. There’s also a Nissan-style, on-screen 360-degree aerial view of the car to assist parking and a rear cross traffic alert system, which warns the driver of approaching traffic when reversing.

The Genesis will be sold exclusively from bespoke Genesis retail areas manned by specially trained sales staff in eight dealerships covering the whole United Kingdom.
