KOREA: Hyundai has launched its new two-seated concept sports car Hyundai RM15 at Seoul Motor Show. The all new RM15 is a mid-sized, lightweight concept car based on 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine with 220kW and 383Nm matched with a six speed manual transmission and capable of propelling the concept to 100km/h from rest in 4.7 seconds.

Weight-saving measures feature heavily in the car’s construction, including aluminium core structure components and carbon-fibre reinforced plastic body panels.

Hyundai says the concept at 1260kg is 195kg lighter than if it were built using traditional steel construction, with weight is split almost evenly at 43 percent front / 57 percent rear.

The concept is based on the Veloster RM from last year’s Busan Motor Show, also in Korea, with modifications designed to boost performance.

Downforce now measures 24kg at 200km/h, and the centre of gravity is just 491mm from the ground. Wheels measure 19-inch all round, with wider tyres on the rear.

A roll-cage inspired by Hyundai’s World Rally Championship program adds rigidity to the car’s structure, and the RM15 is finished in ‘N’ pale blue, black, red and mid-blue paint.

“The RM15 is another bold statement of the progressive spirit of Hyundai – illustrating what we can achieve when we channel our passion and enthusiasm into a product that is not limited by convention,” Hyundai’s Joonhong Park said.

“I’m very proud to unveil the RM15 at our home motor show, where visitors have become used to seeing Hyundai confidently give expression to its creative and engineering talents and energies.”
