KOLKATA: According to AutoCar India, Hyundai India could launch the Tucson SUV in the country by mid 2016. Currently, third generation Hyundai Tucson is sold by the company worldwide and is the only SUV by Hyundai that is not sold in the country.

Hyundai Tucson was previewed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and will be based on the same platform as the Hyundai Santa Fe, say reports.

Hyundai wants to target the SUV segment in the country and the Tucson is the only SUV not available in  the country. With the recently launched Creta, it looks like Hyundai is in no mood to give its rivals any time to come up with any competition.

According to reports, Hyundai Tucson will come through the CKD unit so expect it to be a bit expensive, but the company has plans to start producing the SUV locally so as to cut down the cost of Tucson.
