BAGHDAD: Iraq’s Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) called on cargo flights to land at Baghdad International Airport before landing at any other international airports in the country.
The ICAA Operation said in an instruction to customers and airline operators on Wednesday (April 26) that cargo flights must stop at Baghdad International Airport from May 1 for security checks.
“Starting from the first of May 2017, all airlines operating cargo flights to Iraq have to stop in Baghdad International Airport for security checks before being directed to any other airports in Iraq,” the instruction stated.
Director of Sulaimani International Airport, Dana Mohammed Saeed, told NRT that cargo flights which come to Sulaimani have until now directly landed at the airport.
Saeed added the airport hasn’t received any new instruction yet.
