ICCI recognizes good performance of ICT police

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry held a ceremony to recognize the good performance of police officers and Jawans of Islamabad Police who had traced and arrested the gang that was hitting Chinese nationals in the country. Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri IGP, Janeeb ur Rehman  Bugvi SSP Operations, Zubair Ahmed Sheikh SP Investigations and other police officers and jawan attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri, IG Police said that case of Chinese nationals was a big challenge for Islamabad Police as it was badly affecting the image of the country at national and international level. He said due to this situation, Chinese were considering to curtail their activities in Pakistan and investment in CPEC was also in jeopardy. He said a team was constituted under Janeeb ur Rehman  Bugvi SSP Operations and Zubair Ahmed Sheikh SP Investigations to trace the gang that was hitting the Chinese nationals. The team worked hard and managed to trace and arrest the gang which was a great success for Islamabad Police. He paid rich tribute to all police officers and Jawans who nabbed the gang. He also thanked ICCI for holding ceremony to recognize the good performance of Islamabad Police and hoped that it would boost the morale of police.

Highlighting other major initiatives, Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri said that many steps were taken to make Islamabad Police a model of excellence. He said 7 model police stations were developed while all police stations were being automated to improve service delivery. He said E-FIR and digital challans have been launched to facilitate the people. He said culture of police stations was being improved to make them people friendly. He said CPLC would be inaugurated soon in Islamabad and Reconciliation Committees have been formed in police stations. He said a community policing room has been established in every police station so that the community could play positive role in improving police performance. He said neighborhood watch groups were established to monitor the performance of police. He hoped that these initiatives would help in making Islamabad Police a model of excellence.

Addressing the ceremony, Sheikh Amir Waheed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry lauded the role of police officers and Jawans for arresting the gang that was targeting the Chinese nationals. He said due to good performance of ICT Police, crime rate in Islamabad was less as compared to other major cities of the country was that laudable. He said under Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri, many positive changes were being seen in Islamabad Police. He also lauded Islamabad Police for arresting car lifters, recovering thousands of stolen vehicles and motorbikes. Muhammad Naveed Malik Senior Vice President, Nisar Mirza Vice President ICCI and Saif ur  Rehman Chairman ICCI Police Committee also lauded the good role of Islamabad police and assured that ICCI would recognize ICT Police for good performance in future as well. Janeeb ur Rehman  Bugvi SSP Operations and  Zubair Ahmed Sheikh SP Investigations were given shield while Anees Akbar Inspector, Suleman Shah ASI, Tariq Khan ASI, Fahad Ameen, Ali Asghar, Waseem Iqbal and Muhammad Saeed Constables were given cash prizes and certificates in recognition of their good services.
