REYKJAVIK: According to the Directorate of Customs, earlier this year, customs officials discovered cocaine hidden inside calendars, which were shipped here from Brazil. A package, including 34 calendars, stapled to pieces of thin cardboard, was addressed to an Icelander. Upon inspection, it was discovered that there was cocaine inside the cardboard.
A chemical analysis revealed that the calendars contained a total of 100 grams of cocaine. The cardboard had been soaked in a solution containing cocaine. The Directorate did not reveal when this year the package was seized.
The case was reported to police, but has not been solved.
