IG Islamabad Police announces committee to address businessmen issues

ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, Inspector General, Islamabad Police visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry and addressing the business community announced various committees to resolve their key issues. Faisal Ali Raja DIG Operations, Waqar Ahmed Chohan DIG Security and various SSPs/SPs also accompanied him at the occasion.

Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan said that the committees would be comprised of the representatives of police and business community and would work in cooperation with market associations to resolve highlighted issues of trade and industry. He said that committees would work on various issues including installation of security cameras in markets, drugs control in Islamabad and resolution of community issues. He said that ICCI representatives would be included in the Reconciliation Committees of Police Stations. He said Blue Area would be taken as a pilot project by Committees and this model would be replicated in other markets as well.

The IG said that Islamabad Police was facing financial constraints and business community should arrange security cameras while police would identify spots to install cameras in markets. He said that control rooms should be setup in concerned markets manned by the representatives of traders. He said these control rooms should be linked up with central surveillance system of Islamabad Police that would help in controlling crimes in markets and the city. He said that in cooperation with ICCI and industrial areas representatives, Islamabad Police would issue ID cards to industrial labor that would help in improving security situation. He said that cases of 489f was a major issue for Islamabad Police and ICCI should cooperate in resolving such cases. He said that it was not possible for police to improve security without the cooperation of community while Islamabad Police was also facing shortage of force. He said that Islamabad Police would adopt inclusive approach and develop close liaison with community for resolving issues. He said that two community centers were working in Islamabad while two more community centers, one at Tarnol and one at Sihala would be established to provide better services to the people. He said that bereaved family of Police Shuhada in Punjab and KP was given assistance of Rs.20 million as compared to only Rs.0.2 million in Islamabad and he thanked the Prime Minister of Pakistan for bringing this package in Islamabad at par with other provinces. He assured that police in cooperation with ICCI would try to address all highlighted issues of the business community. He also passed on the spot instructions to his officers to address various problems of business community.

Speaking at the occasion, Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry highlighted various police related issues of business community. He said that Chamber’s representatives should be included in Police Reconciliation Committees to resolve issues with joint efforts. He said before taking action against any traders, police should take concerned market association on board to resolve out of court issues. He said police should address the issue of beggars in Islamabad and bound the motorcyclists to ply on their dedicated lane on road. He assured that ICCI would fully cooperate with Islamabad Police in matters of common interests.

Rafat Farid, Senior Vice President ICCI, Mian Akram Farid, Zafar Bakhtawari, Yousaf Rajput, Malik Sohail Hussain, Khalid Chaudhry, Zahid Rafique and representatives of various market associations also highlighted various issues and IG Police assured to address them.
